Building My Shield: From Survivor to Leader

My journey with Orion Roofing began 15 years ago, during a time when I needed refuge the most. For the first ten years, work became my escape—a place where I could find peace and distance from the challenges at home. As a survivor of domestic violence, I found solace in my work, which gave me a sense of stability and purpose. Orion Roofing was my sanctuary—a place where I felt safe, cared for, believed in, and surrounded by family. The work was more than just a job; it became a foundation for my recovery, helping me regain my strength and find my voice.

The last six years, after leaving that relationship, have been about rebuilding my life. I tapped into a creative and driven side of myself, which I channeled into rebranding Orion Roofing for our 30th anniversary. I led a comprehensive overhaul of the company’s structure and operations, ensuring we embraced modern marketing and technology. This included developing a new logo featuring our Guardian mascot, inspired by the owner and my uncle, Jason Vaughan. Alongside the Guardian, our shield proudly displays the slogan 'Guardian of Homes, Your Home’s Shield,' symbolizing how a roof is more than just protection—it’s peace of mind. I also developed new marketing materials, including informative packets for clients, updated proposals, eye-catching flyers, and innovative ways to reach and engage with our community

Today, as Vice President and Operations Manager, I am preparing to take over when my uncle retires, continuing the legacy of 31 years. My story is one of resilience and transformation—just as Orion Roofing protects the homes in our community, it has been a shield for me, allowing me to rebuild my life and thrive.

Expanding My Mission: Supporting Survivors and Building Community
As I continue to grow both personally and professionally, I’ve become increasingly involved in events and networking with business groups such as Allied Brands Collective, a group dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. Through these events, I advocate for survivors and showcase Orion Roofing, while also collaborating with like-minded individuals committed to empowerment and resilience.

My goal is to ensure Orion Roofing, alongside our Allied Brands Collective partners, remains a pillar of support—not just for the homes we protect, but for the people within them. I’m proud to lead Orion Roofing into the future, upholding values of protection and resilience that have guided us for over three decades.

Organized and Aligned: Freelance Branding and Creative Consulting

With over 15 years of experience as an operations manager, executive assistant, and DIY interior designer, I specialize in helping individuals and businesses streamline and beautify their spaces. Whether you’re looking to refresh your home, revitalize your office, or bring a cohesive aesthetic to your business presence, my goal is to create environments that are both functional and visually appealing.

While I provide guidance on creating a polished and cohesive online presence, my focus is on aesthetics rather than digital marketing strategy. My top client, Orion Roofing, benefitted from a complete brand refresh, while I’ve also collaborated with a cosmetic tattoo studio/school in Beaverton and a nonprofit in Portland supporting disadvantaged and at-risk youth to name a few.

I’m particularly passionate about helping women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. I work with them to set up safe, beautiful living spaces using repurposed and donated items, helping them transition into new environments that foster peace and healing.
